A comment from jazz historian, Brian Dale: "Your ever-expanding book of seldom heard tunes is exemplary as is also the variation of tempos and rhythms. The group sounds very together - musicians who have played together over a period of time always sound better than impromtu get-togethers."

When Victoria jazz fan, Peter Lovric, asked if CanUS would do a gospel show for inmates at William Head Prison, we each had different thought about what it would be like to go behind prison walls at a medium security institution. If we would agree, he said, Islandnet Company would sponsor our concert by giving us a home page listing. So it was that CanUS first played in the chapel at William Head which is a beautiful old building, circa 1910. When this CD project was being discussed, we wondered if we could record it in that same small but beautiful chapel where the acoustics were so perfect. Playing there was a effortless joy and quite a different feeling from that usually experienced in a recording studio. The chaplain, Rev. Marvin Goertz, was very enthusiastic and arranged all the necessary authorizations to enter the prison with recording gear, instruments, piano mover, piano tuner, and so on. If half the magic that we felt in that chapel is perceived by you, the listener, we think you will be happy that we went this route. We also thank the inmates for their part in this, for their enjoyment made the circle complete.
