MY DECISION TO STUDY IN CANADA

BRITNEY SIU

Studying in Canada has been a great experience that IĄŻll never forget. My decision to choose Canada was for five main reasons.

Living in a safe, clean and beautiful country
Canada is widely known as a safe, clean and beautiful country. The crime rate is much lower compared to its neighbourhood countries. Firearms are strictly controlled and generally are not permitted in Canada. In Canada you will find great schools in world-class cities, peaceful settings close to the lake, the ocean, or close to the mountains. Canada is not only well known for the beauty of its natural settings, but it is also famous for its cosmopolitan as well as multicultural cities brimming with ethnic foods, great entertainment, cultural events and sports. Newcomers would not feel being isolated.

Paying low tuition fees and living costs
Canadian tuition rates are already low given its great policy and support from the government. Homestay, food, books, entertainment and travel are also inexpensive compared to that of the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Receiving a quality education
Canadians place a premium on education and demand first-rate schools. Canada's language schools, colleges and universities are renowned for their high standards and educational excellence. A degree from a Canadian university is recognized internationally and, as a result, international students who graduate from Canadian universities enjoy successful and prosperous careers. Moreover, the choice of schools in Canada is wide and varied, from major research institutions to small liberal arts schools.

Learning neutral-accent English
English in Canada has a neutral accent. It is well spoken, understood and respected in the international business community.

Prepare for a global economy.
With a Canadian education, you will be well positioned to take advantage of opportunities in the growing global market. Canadian schools are at the forefront of the information technology revolution, ensuring that their students are equipped for the fast-changing environment. Most schools offer co-operative education and training programs that allow students to spend a portion of their school year gaining practical work experience. Students are well equipped with an academic background and real-life working experience.

As a business student who graduated from the University of Victoria three years ago, I have found that my studying in Canada has paid off as a lifetime gift for myself. My experience and academic background has resulted in a successful career achievement which has easily adapted to the international environment.
