- 1985 - Intel introduces the 16 MHz 80386DX microprocessor. It uses 32-bit registers and a 32-bit (16 MHz) data bus, and incorporates 275,000 transistors (1.5 micron width). Initial price is US$299. It can access 4 gigabytes of physical memory, or up to 64 terabytes of virtual memory. Intel spent US$100 million in development costs.
- 2000 - Handspring unbeils the Handspring Visor Prism handheld computer. It features a Motorola 33 MHz DragonBall VZ processor, Palm OS 3.5.2H, 16-bit color 160x160 pixel 3.1-inch diagonal screen, and rechargeable lithium ion batteries giving about two weeks use. Price is about US$450, size is 4.8 x 3.0 x 0.8 inches; weight is 7.2 ounces.

- 1923 - Walt and Roy Disney, as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, sign a contract with M.J. Winkler Productions, a New York film distributor, to produce six Alice Comedy short films, for US$1500 each, with an option for six more. Winkler will retain all rights to the films produced.
- 1923 - Walt Disney writes to Virginia Davis' mother in Kansas City, asking them to move from Kansas City to Hollywood, for Virginia to star in series of Alice Comedies.
- 1957 - The ABC TV network airs the Disneyland TV show, featuring the third "Saga of Andy Burnett" episode, Andy's Love Affair.
- 1959 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, entitled Killers of the High Country.
- 1960 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, entitled Rapids Ahead, showing portions of the films Ten Who Dared and Bear Country.
- 1966 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, entitled The 101 Problems of Hercules.
- 1976 - The NBC TV network airs NBC All-Disney Saturday Night at the Movies featuring The Great Locomotive Chase and Nikki, Wild Dog of the North.
- 1984 - Striking Disneyland workers vote 70 percent in favor of accepting a new contract, ending the park's longest strike, 22 days.
- 1988 - The NBC TV network airs The Magical World of Disney show, entitled Disney's All-American Sports Nuts.
- 1992 - Disney releases the Hollywood Pictures live-action feature film Consenting Adults to theatres.
- 1995 - Bulgaria issues a postage stamp marking the 100 years of motion pictures, including Mickey Mouse.
- 1998 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Beloved to theaters in the USA.
- 2006 - Disney announces it is phasing out unhealthy food served in its parks, and cutting back on licensing characters promoting snacks with excess sugar and fat.
- 2015 - Touchstone releases the DreamWorks film Bridge of Spies to theaters in the USA.
- 1960 - At Riverside, California, the Los Angeles Times Grand Prix race is held. Finishing 11th overall is the Bill Mitchell #111 Sting Ray racer driven by Richard Thompson.
- 1989 - A drawing is held by music video station VH-1, giving away 36 Corvettes, one from each model year. 1.4 million $2 phone call entries were made, generating $2.8 million revenue. Dennis Amodeo is the winner.
- 1993 - In Titusville, Florida, Eckler's holds their 14th annual Eckler's Corvette Reunion, over three days. About 3500 people attend.
- 2004 - At the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, round nine (final) of the American Le Mans Series is held.
- Finishing 1st in GTS class and 4th overall is the Corvette Racing #3 Corvette C5-R, driven by Ron Fellows, Johnny O'Connell, and Max Papis.
- Finishing 2nd in GTS class and 5th overall is the Corvette Racing #4 Corvette C5-R, driven by Oliver Gavin, Olivier Beretta, and Jan Magnussen.
The Corvette team won every GTS class race of the 2004 American Le Mans Series.
- 2005 - At the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, the Monterey Sports Car Championships race is held, round eleven (final) of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT series. Finishing 9th is the Blackdog Racing #34 Corvette C6 driven by Tony Gaples.
- 1925 - In Locarno, Switzerland, the Pact of Locarno is signed by Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, France, Italy, Poland, and Czechslovakia. The nations agree to a mutual guarantee of existing borders, and to make peaceful settlements of disputes.
- 1925 - In Locarno, the Treaty of Mutual Guarantee is signed by Great Britain, Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy. Germany and Belgium, and Germany and France agree to not attack or invade each other.
- 1925 - France and Poland sign a Treaty of Mutual Guarantee, to immediately aid the other if attacked by Germany.
- 1939 - Five warships from England arrive in Halifax, Canada, carrying about 10 million Pounds Sterling in gold from Britain and other Allied nations, for safekeeping during the war.
- 1939 - German troops cross the extreme western end of the German frontier to France, losing twenty tanks in the battle.
- 1939 - British leaflet drops over Germany resume.
- 1940 - The United States begins drafting soldiers. 16.4 million register.
- 1940 - West of Ireland, convoy SC-7 is detected by a submarine, which signals others.
- 1940 - In convoy SC-7 in the North Atlantic, submarine U-124 torpedoes and sinks the merchant ship Trevisa south of Iceland, en route to Aberdeen, Scotland. 7 are killed.
- 1941 - German Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb of Army Group North launches an offensive toward Kalinin and Tikhvin.
- 1941 - In Japan, Prince Fumimaro Konoye resigns his cabinet. War minister General Hideki Tojo becomes new prime minister.
- 1941 - Singapore Prime Minister Brooke-Popham reports to the Australian Advisory War Council that the aircraft at Singapore are superior to those of Japan, and that Japan is preoccupied with launching an attack on Russia, and hence would not be able to launch a large-scale attack to the south for the next three months.
- 1941 - US Admiral Harold Stark, Chief of Naval Operations, sends a message to Pacific commands, warning of "grave situation" created by the fall of the Konoye Cabinet in Japan, that Japan might attack US and British territories.
- 1942 - (evening) British bombers attack Cologne, Germany. Many bombs hit decoy fires set in open countryside.

- 1813 - At Leipzig, over four days, allied forces converge on Napoleon's position, defeating him. Total forces number 320,000 Allies vs. 160,000 French. About 94,000 are killed or wounded.
- 1857 - The British Treasury approves the Master of the Mint's proposal for determining the weight of the new 20c piece for Canada. The coin will be 71.73 grains of 0.925 fine silver, equal to 5.066 grains of British standard gold.
- 1980 - Torex '80 is held, over four days. 6500 people attend the show.
- 1995 - A Royal proclamation specifies that the design of a $2 coin depict a polar bear. The coin is specified to have a core of aluminum bronze, and an outer ring of pure nickel.
- 1998 - A Royal proclamation modifies the design of the copper-plated silver 1c, dated 1908-1998, to specify adding "Canada" to the obverse.
- 1786 - Continental Congress authorizes coinage system of gold piece valued at $10, silver piece at $1, tenth dollar in silver, and copper penny.
- 2007 - Stack's of New York conducts the 23rd and final auction of the John J. Ford Junior Collection. After 23 auctions of coins, tokens, currency, and numismatic books, the total price realized is $58 million, a record for a single collection.
- 1909 - Pittsburgh Pirates beat Detroit Tigers 4 games to 3 in 6th World Series.

- 1985 - Saint Louis Cardinals win the National League Championship Series in Game 6.
- 1988 - Orel Hirsheiser, first to pitch shutout in playoff and World Series (#85).
- 2003 - The New York Yankees defeat the Boston Red Sox in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, the 39th American League pennant for the Yankees.
- 2004 - The New York Yankees defeat the Boston Red Sox 19-8 in Game three of Major League Baseball's American League Championship Series. The game, which pushed the Yankees to a 3 games to 0 series lead, sets a record for longest 9 inning baseball game.
- 2004 - Arsenal loses for the first time in 49 league games, a national record, going down 2-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
- 2021 - At crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Minnesota Wild beats Los Angeles Kings by score 3-2.
