Personal computer history:

  • 1996 - Apple Computer engineers and a manager meet with NeXT managers to investigate possibility of using OPENSTEP OS for future Mac computers.
  • 2007 - 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment releases the film Futurama: Bender's Big Score on DVD in the USA. A personal computer of the future appears.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1937 - The last cels for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are painted.
  • 1957 - The ABC TV network airs the Disneyland TV show, entitled How to Relax. Several Goofy films are shown.
  • 1959 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, entitled A Storm Called Maria. it is based on the book Storm by George Stewart.
  • 1960 - The ABC TV network airs the Walt Disney Presents TV show, entitled Moochie of Pop Warner Football: From Ticonderoga to Disneyland. Walt Disney gives a cameo appearance in this show.
  • 1966 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, featuring The Moon-Spinners, part two.
  • 1983 - The TV show Krag, the Kootenay Ram airs in Canada.
  • 1985 - Grenada Grenadines issues five postage stamps depicting various Disney characters in Mark Twain's Letters From Hawaii.
  • 1985 - Grenada Grenadines issues five postage stamps featuring Disney character versions of the Brothers Grimm story The Elves and the Shoemaker.
  • 1986 - The ABC TV network airs the special Disney's Fluppy Pups.
  • 1987 - The NBC TV network airs the one-hour special Walt Disney World Celebrity Circus.
  • 1988 - The TV special "The Absent-Minded Professor" airs.
  • 1989 - The Disney Channel airs the last episode of the Treasure of Lost Creek serial on the Mickey Mouse Club.
  • 1992 - Warner Bros. Española S.A. releases the film Beauty and the Beast to theaters in Spain.
  • 1994 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A fantasy underwater scene and music parody Disney's The Little Mermaid and song "Under the Sea".
  • 1996 - Buena Vista Pictures releases the Walt Disney Pictures live-action feature film 101 Dalmatians to theaters in the US. The film is a remake of the 1961 animated film. The film cost US$45-55 million to make.
  • 1997 - The It's a Small World attraction at Disneyland re-opens with additions to show how holidays are celebrated around the world. Temporary new name is It's a Small World Holiday.
  • 2002 - Disney generally releases the film Treasure Planet to theaters in the USA. The film cost US$130 million to produce.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1953 - Corvette show car #853 returns to the US from Canadian car shows.
  • 1966 - At the Riverside International Raceway in California, the American Road Race of Champions final races of the SCCA Club Racing series are held.
    • Finishing 5th in A Production class and 5th overall is the #61 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Herb Caplan.
    • Finishing 7th in A Production class and 7th overall is the #64 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Gary Gove.
    • Finishing 5th in B Production class and 12th overall is the #604 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Rick Stark.
    • Finishing 8th in B Production class and 17th overall is the #603 Corvette driven by Ken Deckman.

World War II history:

  • 1939 - Dutch liner Spaarndam strikes a mine of the Thames estuary and sinks.
  • 1941 - The German Panzer group attacking to the north of Moscow advances within 18 miles of the city. The southern group advances to within 32 miles of Kolomna, sixty miles south-east of Moscow. The offensive is halted by winter weather and Russian counterattacks.
  • 1941 - US Secretary of War Stimson, acting for President Franklin Roosevelt, sends a general war warning to all US commands. US Chief of Naval Operations signals to Atlantic and Pacific fleet commanders "an aggressive move by Japan is expected within the next few days".
  • 1942 - (0145 hours) As part of Operation Anton, eight German armored columns move out from Aix to take Toulon and the French navy ships anchored there.
  • 1942 - (0530 hours) French naval fleet commander Admiral Jean de Laborde in Toulon orders the fleet scuttled and destroyed.

Video game history:

  • 1994 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A video game cartridge is shown with name "Disembowler IV".
  • 1998 - In Japan, Sega Enterprises releases the Dreamcast video game system. It features a 200 MHz 128-bit Hitachi SH-4 processor, special NEC graphics processing chip, 26 MB RAM (16 MB main memory, 2 MB sound, 8 MB video), built-in 56 kbps modem, serial port, Web browser, Microsoft Windows CE operating system, one controller, and CD-ROM drive for 1 GB capacity disks. Price is 29,800 Yen, about US$220.
  • 1998 - Sega releases the Virtua Fighter 3tb video game for the Dreamcast in Japan.
  • 2004 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. A building with a sign "VIDEO GAMES / ARCADE" is destroyed by spaceship blasts.
  • 2004 - Total sales of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance (including SP) during Thanksgiving week in the US: 800,000.
  • 2007 - 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment releases the film Futurama: Bender's Big Score on DVD in the USA.
    • An arcade video game appears.
    • People on a planet play a video game that is the actual space ships attacking them.

Swedish history:

  • 1895 - Alfred Nobel writes his will. He directs that most of his estate be invested, with the interest used as prizes to those making the greatest contributions to mankind, in the subjects of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and peace.
  • 2007 - 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment releases the film Bender's Big Score on DVD in the USA. A scene takes place with the awarding of Nobel Prizes.

Canadian coin history:

  • 1986 - An Order in Council authorizes the minting of a bronze-plated nickel dollar coin in 1987.

USA coin history:

  • 1795 - With the death of assayer Albion Coxe, all coinage stops.
  • 1908 - The San Francisco Mint strikes the first branch-mint cents and delivers them to the superintendent.
  • 1963 - US Mint Director Eva Adams informs chief sculptor Gilroy Roberts that the half dollar had been selected for new John Kennedy issue, with design as used on medals, and the President's seal on the reverse.

Sports history:

  • 1870 - New York Times dubs baseball "The National Game".
  • 1924 - 57,000 watch a high school football game in Las Angeles, California, USA.
  • 1926 - 110,000 watch Army and Navy play a 21-all tie football game.
  • 1947 - Joe DiMaggio wins his third Most Valuable Player, beating Ted Williams by one vote.
  • 1960 - Gordie Howe becomes first NHL player to score 1,000 points.
  • 1960 - Trailing 38-7 late in third quarter, Buffalo Bills tie Denver Broncos at 38-38.
  • 1961 - Gordie Howe becomes first to play in 1,000 NHL games.
  • 1966 - In highest-scoring NFL game, Washington Redskins defeat New York Giants 72-41.
  • 1972 - New York Yankees trade Ellis, Torres and Spikes to Cleveland Indians for Nettles and Moses.
  • 1975 - Fred Lynn became first rookie to win the Most Valuable Player.
  • 1982 - Fifth time New York Rangers shut-out New York Islanders 3-0.
  • 2005 - In Canada, for the second time in three years, the Edmonton Eskimos defeat the Montreal Alouettes 38-35 in an overtime thriller to win the 93rd Grey Cup at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver.
  • 2021 - At Scotiabank Saddledrome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, NHL regular season game: Winnipeg Jets beats Calgary Flames by score 4-2.
  • 2021 - At Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, USA, NHL regular season game: Colorado Avalanche beats Nashville Predators by score 6-2.
  • 2021 - At Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, USA, NHL regular season game: Dallas Stars beats Arizona Coyotes by score 3-2.
  • 2021 - At Enterprise Center in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, NHL regular season game: Saint Louis Blues beats Columbus Blue Jackets by score 6-3.
  • 2021 - At crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Los Angeles Kings beats Ottawa Senators by score 4-2.
  • 2021 - At T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, NHL regular season game: Edmonton Oilers beats Vegas Golden Knights by score 3-2. Oilers' defenceman Kris Russell blocks his 1999th and 2000th shots, becoming the all-time leader in blocked shots.
  • 2021 - At PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, NHL regular season game: Montreal Canadiens beats Pittsburgh Penguins by score 6-3.
  • 2021 - At Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, USA, NHL regular season game: Detroit Red Wings beats Buffalo Sabres by score 3-2.
  • 2021 - At FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida, USA, NHL regular season game: Seattle Kraken beats Florida Panthers by score 4-1.

Space exploration history:

  • 1885 - Earliest photograph of a meteor shower is made.
  • 1971 - The Soviet space program's Mars 2 orbiter releases a descent module. It malfunctions and crashes, but it is the first man-made object to reach the surface of Mars.
  • 1980 - Soyuz T-3 carries three cosmonauts to Salyut 6 space station, launched.
  • 1989 - US 63rd manned space mission STS 33 (Discovery 9) returns from space.
  • 2001 - The Hubble Space Telescope detects the first atmosphere (in this case, hydrogen) on an extrasolar planet (on Osiris).
  • 2009 - Space shuttle Atlantis lands at its Florida home port, after completing an 11-day mission to deliver cargo to the International Space Station.

USA history:

  • 1817 - US soldiers attack Florida Indian village, beginning Seminole War.
  • 1839 - In Boston, Massachusetts, USA, the American Statistical Association is founded.
  • 1898 - Side-wheeler Portland sinks off Cape Cod, 190 die.
  • 1901 - Army War College established in Washington DC.
  • 1910 - New York's Pennsylvania Station opens as world's largest railway terminal.
  • 1924 - In New York City, the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is held.
  • 1926 - Restoration of Williamsburg, Virginia, begins.
  • 1934 - Baby Face Nelson shot by FBI agents.

  • 1967 - Gold pool nations pledge support of $35 per ounce gold price.
  • 1973 - US Senate votes 92-3 to confirm Gerald R Ford as Vice President.
  • 1978 - In San Francisco, California, Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk are assassinated by former Supervisor Dan White.
  • 2007 - The Annapolis Conference, a peace conference trying to end the Arab-Israeli conflict, is held in Annapolis, Maryland in the United States.
  • 2019 - The U.S. Government passes the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act.

  • 1095 - Pope Urban II preaches first Crusade.
  • 1815 - Cracow (Poland) declared a free republic.
