Personal computer history:

  • 1989 - In Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the World of Commodore trade show is held, over five days.
  • 2003 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A personal computer is shown in a house, displaying a web site.
  • 2006 - Microsoft officially releases the Windows Vista operating system to corporate clients. The software is comprised of 50 million lines of source code.
  • 2008 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A computer store in a mall has a logo like the Apple company. with laptop and desktop computers that look like Apple products. A man runs into the store and throws a sledgehammer at the large screen displaying the company CEO, like the "1984" Apple ad introducing the Macintosh. A laptop computer with an Apple-like logo is used at a house. A package is delivered in a box with double-bite apple logo and "MAPPLE".

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1935 - The Silly Symphony film Cock o' the Walk is released to theaters.
  • 1955 - The ABC TV network airs the Disneyland TV show, entitled The Story of the Animated Drawing.
  • 1966 - Walt Disney collapses at his home, is revived by medics, and is re-admitted to hospital.
  • 1969 - The NBC TV network airs The Wonderful World of Disney show, featuring The Secrets of the Pirate's Inn, part two.
  • 1986 - The ABC TV network airs The Disney Sunday Movie, entitled Sunday Drive.
  • 1988 - The Disney Channel begins airing Good Morning, Miss Bliss.
  • 1989 - Dominica issues ten postage stamps depicting Disney characters and Hollywood.
  • 1992 - Tanzania issues fifteen postage stamps depicting various Disney characters.
  • 1992 - Michael Eisner exercises 5 million stock options acquired in 1984, giving him a US$193 million stock option gain. Frank Wells exercises 1.6 million options, making a gain of US$63 million.
  • 2003 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A hallucination of various commercial bears includes Disney's Winnie-the-Pooh.
  • 2003 - Roy Disney resigns from the Disney board of directors, including his positions as Chairman of Feature Animation, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • 2008 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A dream sequence mimics Disney's Aladdin film, with magic carpet, lamp, and blue genie.
  • 2010 - Disney releases Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 on Blu-Ray in the US.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1963 - Three Corvette Grand Sports painted Cadillac blue with 550-bhp aluminum 377-ci engines arrive in Nassau, Bahamas.
  • 1964 - The Tourist Trophy race of the Nassau Speed Week is held in the Bahamas. Finishing 1st overall is the #82 Corvette Grand Sport #005 driven by Roger Penske. He also sets a new lap record. This win is the last Corvette victory over the Ford-powered Cobras for years to come.
  • 1969 - At the Daytona International Speedway in Florida, the American Road Race of Champions final races of the SCCA Club Racing series are held.
    • Finishing 1st in A Production class and 1st overall is the #7 1969 Corvette driven by Jerry Thompson. This is the first Corvette win in this class since 1962.
    • Finishing 2nd in A Production class and 2nd overall is the #91 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Don Yenko.
    • Finishing 3rd in A Production class and 3rd overall is the #6 Corvette driven by Herb Caplan.
    • Finishing 4th in A Production class and 4th overall is the #77 Corvette driven by William Harrison.
    • Finishing 1st in B Production class and 5th overall is the #87 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Allan Barker.
    • Finishing 3rd in B Production class and 7th overall is the #25 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Doug Hooper.
    • Finishing 5th in B Production class and 9th overall is the #47 Corvette driven by Dick Durant.
    • Finishing 5th in A Production class and 12th overall is the #19 Corvette driven by Byron Willner.
    • Finishing 9th in B Production class and 14th overall is the #41 Corvette driven by Fred Brandt.
    • Finishing 10th in B Production class and 15th overall is the #29 Corvette driven by Fred Thompson.
    • Finishing 7th in A Production class and 17th overall is the #1 Corvette driven by Tony DeLorenzo.
    • Finishing 8th in A Production class and 18th overall is the #18 Corvette driven by John Paul.
    • Finishing 11th in B Production class and 19th overall is the #68 Corvette driven by John Putnem.
    • Finishing 12th in B Production class and 20th overall is the #74 Corvette driven by Cliff Gottlob.

  • 1980 - Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Finale 250 Miles, IMSA GT Series (round 14), IMSA GTO (round 15).
    • Finishing ?th in GTO class and 18th overall is the #99 Corvette, driven by Phil Currin.
    • In ?th place in GTX class and 33rd place overall, but not finishing the race, is the #68 Corvette, driven by Richard Valentine and Bill Alsup.

  • 1982 - At the Riverside International Raceway in California, Chevrolet previews the 1983 model Corvette, where the automotive press test the car. The new Corvette features 64-degree windshield, 0.34 coefficient of drag, and top speed over 140-mph.
  • 1987 - The current issue of Autoweek has an article stating that American musclecars are the new safe haven for cash in view of the recent stock market crash.

World War II history:

  • 1939 - Soviet Union forces attack Finland, commencing with air raids on Helsinki.
  • 1940 - German cruiser Admiral Hipper sails from Germany.
  • 1989 - Marshall Islands issues a postage stamp marking the 50th anniversary of the invasion of Finland.

Video game history:

  • 2004 - Ubisoft releases the Ghost Recon 2 video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2004 - Square Enix releases the Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.

Swedish history:

  • 1718 - (about 2100 hours) At the siege of Fredrikshald, King Karl XII is struck in the head by a bullet, killing him instantly.
  • 1939 - Soviet forces attack Finland.
  • 1999 - The Barsebäck 1 nuclear power plant near Malmö is shut down.

Canadian coin history:

  • 1981 - Master of the Mint Yvon Gariepy resigns, to take a position in marketing at Canada Post.
  • 1986 - The RCMP calls off the search for the missing dollar coin dies, concluding that the packages arrived in Winnipeg, then were misplaced by the courier company.

USA coin history:

  • 1907 - US Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes purchases from Bureau of the Mint a 1907 Saint-Gaudens, With Periods, Rolled Edge gold eagle coin.
  • 1997 - Inventory of Susan Anthony dollar coins in Mint vaults and in Federal Reserve banks: 122.05 million.
  • 2004 - American Coin Rarities auctions a 1793 Flowing Hair, Wreath, Strawberry Leaf cent for US$414,000.
  • 2009 - The US Mint releases the 2009 Northern Mariana Islands quarter dollar to circulation.
  • 2010 - The US Senate passes H.R. 6162, the Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010.
  • 2010 - The US Senate passes the Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act of 2010.

Sports history:

  • 1887 - First indoor softball game (Chicago, Illinois).
  • 1940 - First game of only two-game CFL Grey Cup (Ottawa 8, Toronto Balmy Beach 2).
  • 1948 - American Baseball's Negro National League disbands.
  • 1959 - Joe Foss named first commissioner of AFL.
  • 1974 - 20th time New York Islanders shut-out (3-0 versus Vancouver Canucks).
  • 1983 - Denver Nuggets' coach Doug Moe, hopelessly behind, advises team to let Portland Trail Blazers break their scoring record.
  • 2000 - Mike Mussina signs a US$88.5 million, six-year contract with the New York Yankees.
  • 2008 - Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson score 63 to win golf's World Cup for Sweden at Mission Hills in China.
  • 2019 - (to December 11) The 2019 Southeast Asian Games are held in the Philippines.
  • 2021 - At crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Anaheim Ducks beats Los Angeles Kings by score 5-4.
  • 2021 - At American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, USA, NHL regular season game: Dallas Stars beats Carolina Hurricanes by score 4-1.
  • 2021 - At Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA, NHL regular season game: Minnesota Wild beats Arizona Coyotes by score 5-2.
  • 2021 - At Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, NHL regular season game: Nashville Predators beats Columbus Blue Jackets by score 6-0.
  • 2021 - At Enterprise Center in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, NHL regular season game: Saint Louis Blues beats Tampa Bay Lightning by score 4-3.
  • 2021 - At Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, USA, NHL regular season game: San Jose Sharks beats New Jersey Devils by score 5-2.

Space exploration history:

  • 1954 - First meteorite (8 pounds) known to strike a woman (Liz Hodges in Sylacauga, Alabama, USA).
  • 1964 - USSR launches Zond 2 towards Mars; no data returned.
  • 2008 - The space shuttle Endeavour lands in California after a 16-day mission to renovate parts of the International Space Station.

Extreme weather history:

  • 1988 - Cyclone lashes Bangladesh, Eastern India; 317 killed.
  • 1991 - 93 cars and 11 trucks in accident near San Francisco during a dust storm, 17 die.
  • 2006 - Typhoon Durian triggers a massive mudslide and kills hundreds of people in the Philippines.
  • 2007 - The 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ends.

USA history:

  • 1782 - Britain signs agreement recognizing US independence.
  • 1783 - In New Jersey, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurs. The largest historical earthquake in New Jersey.
  • 1804 - Impeachment trial of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Chase begins.
  • 1864 - Battle of Franklin, Tennessee.
  • 1866 - Work begins on first US underwater highway tunnel, Chicago, Illinois.
  • 1870 - First National Gold Bank San Francisco No. 1741 becomes the first national bank chartered in California.
  • 1886 - First commercially-successful AC electric power plant opens, Buffalo, New York, USA.

  • 1907 - Pike Place Market is dedicated in Seattle, Washington.
  • 1924 - First photo facsimile is transmitted across Atlantic Ocean by radio.

  • 2020 - Moderna in the USA announces completion of Phase 3 clinical trials of its mRNA-1273 Covid-19 vaccine, declaring it to be 94.1% effective.
