- 2002 - Sony Electronics introduces the Sony Clié PEG-T615C handheld computer, replacing the PEG-N610C. It features 65,536-color 320x320 pixel backlit TFT display, 16 MB RAM, Memory Stick expansion slot, USB connection, Palm OS 4.1, universal remote control. - 2002 - Sony announces the Clie PEG-S360 handheld computer, replacing the PEG-S320. It features Palm OS, 16 MB RAM, Memory Stick port. Price is US$199.

- 2008 - At Macworld Expo, Apple introduces the MacBook Air laptop computer. - 2008 - Microsoft releases the Office:mac 2008 office software for the Apple Mac computers in the US. price is US$400, or US$240 upgrade from a previous version.
- 1925 - M.J. Winkler Productions releases the Alice Comedy film Alice the Toreador to theaters.

- 1988 - Disney generally releases the live-action feature film Good Morning, Vietnam to theaters. The film cost US$14 million to make.

- 1946 - In Melbourne, Australia, a court sentences Japanese Captain Kato to death by shooting for the execution of an Australian prisoner in Netherlands New Guinea.
- 1946 - In Canton, China, Huang Meili is executed by firing squad. Meili was convicted of collecting Chinese financial information for the Japanese during the occupation.
- 1946 - In Naples, Italy, a US military commission sentences three German Gestapo officers to be hanged for the murder of seven Allied soldiers. The three are SS Major August Schiffer, SS Under-Officer Albert Storz, and SS Lieutenant Heinrich Andergassen. A forth guilty person, gendarme Hans Butz, is sentenced to life imprisonment.
- 1965 - Poland issues a postage stamp marking the 20th anniversary of the liberation of concentration camps.
- 2007 - An Italian court sentences ten former SS members to life imprisonment for merders committed in Marzabotta, near Bologna, between September 29 and October 5, 1944, by retreating Nazi troops. Up to 1800 civilians were massacred. Preparations of about 100 million euros is to be paid.
- 1968 - Ralph Baer applies for a patent on his invention of the television video game system.
- 2001 - Nintendo releases the Mario Tennis video game for the Game Boy Color in the US.
- 2003 - Tecmo releases the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball video game for the Xbox in the US. Price is US$49.99.
- 1631 - King Gustav Adolf guarantees the neutrality of the Elector of Bavaria and the Catholic League.
- 2009 - The Royal Canadian Mint releases the 2009 Cross Country Skiing 25-cent coin to circulation.
- 1991 - Aubrey and Adeline Bebee of Omaha, Nebraska, donate the Idler specimen Class III 1804 silver dollar to the ANA's Money Museum. The coin is valued at $1 million.

- 2008 - In Michigan, USA, the Rupublican caucuses choose Mitt Romney as candidate for the presidential election on November.
- 2008 - The governments of Singapore, Kuwait, and South Korea invest US$21 billion in American finance companies Citigroup and Merrill Lynch through sovereign-wealth funds.
- 2009 - A US Airways Airbus 320 Flight 1549 makes an emergency landing into the Hudson River off New York City shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport, after birds disable both engines. All 155 passengers and crew members are safely rescued.
- 2009 - Bank of America, the largest U.S. bank, posts its first quarterly loss in 17 years, of US$1.79 billion.
