  • 1998 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A personal computer (system unit, CRT monitor, keyboard) appears, with all glass sides showing the insides.
  • 2001 - Advanced Micro Devices launches the 1.33 GHz Athlon processor. Price is US$350 in 1000-unit quantities.
  • 2005 - Netherlands issues a 39-cent postage stamp depicting a laptop computer.
  • 2006 - Intel releases the 3.73 GHz Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 965 dual core processor. Price is US$999 in 1000-unit quantities.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1935 - The Silly Symphony film The Golden Touch is released to theaters. It is such an embarrassing failure, that it is quickly withdrawn from distribution.
  • 1964 - The NBC TV network airs the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show, entitled In Shape with Von Drake, with Ludwig von Drake.
  • 1970 - The NBC TV network airs The Wonderful World of Disney show, entitled Disneyland Showtime airs, featuring the opening of the Haunted Mansion attraction.
  • 1972 - Buena Vista releases the live-action feature film The Biscuit Eater to theaters.
  • 1975 - Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village opens at Walt Disney World.
  • 1985 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Baby ... Secret of the Lost Legend to theaters.
  • 1993 - Antigua & Barbuda issues seven postage stamps depicting Disney characters and Euro Disney.
  • 1995 - Maldives issues 28 postage stamps marking the 50th anniversary of Donald Duck.
  • 1995 - The last episode of the TV series All-American Girl airs.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1957 - At the Sebring race track, Juan Fangio test drives the Corvette SS "Mule", beating his own Ferrari record of last year with a lap time of 3:27.2. Stirling Moss test drives a 3:28 lap.
  • 1957 - The Corvette SS is delivered to the Sebring race track.
  • 1958 - In Sebring, Florida, the 12 Hours of Sebring race is held, round 2 of World Sports Car Championship.
    • Finishing 1st in Grand Touring 5000 class, 12th overall, is the Richard Doane #1 Corvette, driven by Jim Rathmann and Richard Doane.
    • Finishing 2nd in Grand Touring 5000 class, 33rd overall, is the Richard Thompson #2 Corvette, driven by John Kilborn, Fred Windridge, and Dick Thompson.
    • Jim Jeffords drives his #3 Corvette SR-2 in Grand Touring 5000 class. After 27 laps, the rear axle breaks. He places 59th overall.

  • 1969 - In Sebring, Florida, the 12 Hours of Sebring race is held.
    • Finishing 2nd in Grand Touring +5000 class, 14th overall, is the Troy Promotions #2 Corvette, driven by Dick Lang and Gib Hufstaeder.
    • Finishing 3rd in Grand Touring +5000 class, 21st overall, is the Troy Promotions #4 Corvette L-88, driven by Or Costanzo and Dave Heinz.
    • Finishing 4th in Grand Touring +5000 class, 24th overall, is the Troy Promotions #1 Corvette, driven by Tony DeLorenzo and Jerry Thompson.
    • Ed Lowther, Robert Esseks, and Frank Dominianni race Esseks' #3 Corvette in Grand Touring +5000 class. After 55 laps, the car is disqualified due to receiving assistance on the track.

  • 1980 - At the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, the 28th Annual Coca-Cola 12 Hours of Sebring is held.
    • Finishing 13th in GTO class and 36th overall is the National Jets #99 Corvette driven by Russ Boy and Tom Hunt.
    • Finishing 16th in GTO class and 40th overall is the Bard Boand Racing #84 Corvette driven by Bard Boand, Robert Kivela, and Ray Irwin.
    • Finishing 19th in GTO class and 46th overall is the Joe Cotrone #40 Corvette driven by Joe Cotrone, Emory Donaldson, and Phil Currin.
    • Placing 26th in GTO class and 59th overall is the George Garcia #14 Corvette driven by George Garcia, Vic Shinn, and Daniel Vilarchao. The car is not running at the finish.
    • Placing 18th in GTX class and 63rd overall is the Shulnburg Scrap Metal #50 Corvette driven by R. V. Shulnberg, Michael Keyser, and Tim Morgan. The car is not running at the finish, due to engine failure.
    • Placing 20th in GTX class and 68th overall is the T & R Racing #0.2 Corvette driven by Tico Almeida, Rene Rodriguez, and Gabriel Riano. The car is not running at the finish, due to engine failure.
    • Placing 30th in GTO class and 70th overall is the Dynasales #48 Corvette driven by John Carusso. The car is not running at the finish.

    • Placing 9th in GTP class and 49th overall is the K & P Racing #82 Corvette driven by David Fuller and Mark Montgomery.
    • Placing 24th in GTO class and 63rd overall is the Dave Heinz Imports #51 Corvette driven by Dave Heinz, Don Yenko, Steve Zwiren. The car is not running at the finish, due to transmission failure.

World War II history:

  • 1936 - Quote by Adolf Hitler, regarding the re-occupation of the Rhineland: "We and all nations have a sense that we have come to the turning point of an age.".
  • 1939 - Lithuania surrenders Memel to Germany.
  • 1940 - In French counterintelligence, Colonel Paul Paillole reports that Germans had suddenly begun to study routes from Sedan to Abbeville. He concludes that an attack through Belgium toward the English Channel seemed imminent.
  • 1941 - German battle-cruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau slip into Brest harbor, France, for repairs.
  • 1942 - In the first nine months of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, German casualties total over one million.
  • 1943 - (evening) 357 British Bombers attack German submarine bases at St. Nazaire.
  • 1944 - Germans install their own government in Hungary.
  • 1944 - In the Atlantic ocean, south-west of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, German submarine U-802 torpedoes and sinks Canadian merchant ship Watuka.
  • 1945 - The US 3rd Army, lead by General George Patton, crosses the Rhine River at Oppenheim.
  • 1945 - British bombers attack railway bridges at Bremen, Nienburg, and Bad Oeynhausen, Germany.
  • 1946 - In Budapest, Hungary, the People's Court sentences to death by shooting former Premier Field Marshal Doeme Sztojay. Also sentenced to death: deputy Minister Denoe Racz, Finance Minister Lajos Remenyl-Schneller, and Industrial Minister Lajos Szasz. Minister of Commerce Anton Kunder is sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • 1946 - In Yokohama, Japan, US 8th Army tribunal convicts Japanese Major Yaichi Rikitake of eighteen war crime charges.
  • 1946 - In Manila, Philippines, former Japanese soldier Soichi Kobayashi is hanged as war criminal or the murder of Filipino civilians.

Video game history:

  • 1988 - Howard Lincoln and Minoru Arakawa of Nintendo sign contract with representatives of Electronorgtechnica of the USSR for worldwide home video game rights to the game Tetris.
  • 1993 - US Supreme Court refuses to hear appeal from Nintendo over the Lewis Galoob Toys' Game Genie product.
  • 1996 - In Japan, Bandai releases the Pippin Atmark multimedia system. It features PowerPC 603 processor, 6 MB RAM, 14.4 kbps modem, CD-ROM reader. Price is 64,820 yen (US$620).
  • 1996 - Capcom releases the Resident Evil video game for the PlayStation in the US. The game innovates by creating the survival-horror genre.
  • 1996 - TGL releases the Steam Hearts: the Crying Game video game for the PC Engine in Japan.
  • 1997 - Namco releases the Tekken 3 arcade game.
  • 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. Two characters play "Crash Nebula" on a home video game system. The final question in a Brain-a-Thon competition is about the propulsion system of a spaceship in a video game.
  • 2004 - Nintendo releases the Pokémon Colosseum video game for the GameCube in the US. Price is US$49.99.
  • 2005 - Midway releases the NARC video game for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in the US.
  • 2005 - Sony releases the God of War video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
  • 2005 - EA Games releases the TimeSplitters: Future Perfect video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in the US.
  • 2006 - THQ releases the Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers video game for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in the US.
  • 2009 - Nintendo releases the Pokémon Platinum video game for the Nintendo DS in the USA.
  • 2009 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A character says "You said we were going to a video game expo". Three characters jump around a rock formation like in the video game Q*Bert.
  • 2011 - Electronic Arts releases the Crysis 2 video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US.
  • 2011 - LucasArts releases the LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS in the US.
  • 2011 - Square Enix releases the Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy video game for the PlayStation Portable in the US.
  • 2011 - Namco Bandai releases the Ridge Racer 3D video game for the Nintendo 3DS in the US.

Swedish history:

  • 1809 - Georg Adlersparre arrives in Stockholm with a force of 2900 from the Norwegian border.
  • 2001 - The United States issues a 34-cent postage stamp marking the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize, depicting Alfred Nobel and medals.

USA coin history:

  • 1837 - Rufus Tyler is appointed first coiner for the branch mint in New Orleans.
  • 1915 - Treasury Secretary William McAdoo approves designs for 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition half dollars.
  • 2012 - A US 1885 5-cent coin, MS-67 PCGS, sells for US$170,000, record for a mint state coin of the 1883-1912 series.

Sports history:

  • 1894 - Stanley Cup: Montréal AAA beat Ottawa Generals, 3-1 (first Cup game ever).
  • 1929 - 66 horses run in Irish Grand National Sweepstakes.
  • 1934 - First Masters golf championship begins in Augusta, Georgia, USA.
  • 1953 - Louise Suggs wins LPGA Betsy Rawls Golf Open.
  • 1958 - 20th NCAA Men's Basketball Championship: Kentucky beats Seattle 84-72.
  • 1959 - Betsy Rawls wins LPGA Nehi Golf Tournament.
  • 1963 - Oregon State's Terry Baker becomes first and only Heisman Trophy winner.
  • 1964 - Carol Mann wins LPGA Women's Western Golf Open Invitational.
  • 1967 - Muhammad Ali [Cassius Clay] knocks out Zora Folley in 7 innings for heavyweight boxing title in first Madison Square Garden fight.
  • 1969 - 31st NCAA Men's Basketball Championship: UCLA beats Purdue 92-72; UCLA wins its 5th national championship in six years.
  • 1970 - Kathy Whitworth wins LPGA Orange Blossom Golf Classic.
  • 1972 - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar named NBA Most Valuable Player.
  • 1972 - Nick Mileti purchases Cleveland Indians for US$9 million.
  • 1972 - New York Yankees trade Danny Cater to the Boston Red Sox for Sparky Lyle.
  • 1975 - Delta State beats Immaculata for the women's AIAW championship.
  • 1979 - NHL votes to accept four WHA teams (Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Quebec Nordiques, and Hartford Whalers).
  • 1981 - Donna Caponi Young wins LPGA Desert Inn Pro-Am Golf Tournament.
  • 1981 - Toshihiko Seko runs world record 25km (1:13:55.8) and 30km (1:29:18.8).
  • 1984 - New York Islanders' Bryan Trottier ties NHL record scores 5 seconds into game.
  • 1986 - Andrea Ehrig skates ladies world record 5 km (7:00.99).
  • 1986 - HBO launches boxing's heavyweight title unification tournament.
  • 1986 - Karin Kania skates ladies world record 1500 metre (1:09.30).

  • 1992 - Danielle Ammaccapane wins Standard Register Ping Golf Championship.
  • 1992 - England beats South Africa in rain-ruined cricket World Cup semi final.
  • 1992 - Joseph A Molloy elected New York Yankees general partner.
  • 1994 - Mark Foster swims world record 50 metre butterfly (23.68 seconds).
  • 1998 - Liselotte Neumann wins Standard Register PING Golf Tournament.

  • 2022 - At crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, USA, NHL regular season game: Los Angeles Kings beats Nashville Predators by score 6-1.

  • 2018 - US President Donald Trump appoints John Bolton as National Security Advisor, to begin April 9.
