- 1997 - NEC Electronics announces the 66 MHz 64-bit VR4102 processor for Windows CE devices. It features 4 kB instruction cache, 1 kB data cache, modem emulation, advanced power management, support for many peripherals. Price will be about US$25 in 10,000-unit quantities when shipping in volume in July.
- 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs the Futurama TV show in the US. A portable computer appears, looking like an Apple Computer model.
- 2004 - Intel releases the ultra-low-voltage 1.1 GHz Pentium M processor. Power consumption is about 7 watts at just over 1 volt. Price is US$262, in 1000-unit quantities.

- 1981 - Grenada issues five postage stamps depicting various Disney characters and Easter baskets.
- 1983 - Walt Disney World welcomes its 150-millionth guest, Carrie Stahl.
- 1985 - The ABC TV network airs the 14th annual Walt Disney World's Happy Easter Parade.
- 1990 - The Cage nightclub opens in Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World. Former name was Videopolis East.
- 1993 - Disney releases the film Pinocchio on laserdisc (CAV Collector's Edition) in the US, for US$100.
- 1995 - The name of the Diamond Horseshoe Jamboree at Walt Disney World is changed back to Diamond Horseshoe Revue.
- 1995 - At the Cleveland Film Festival, the film Frank and Ollie, premieres. The film is a documentary of the lives and careers of Disney animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston.
- 1995 - Buena Vista Pictures releases the Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film A Goofy Movie to theaters in the US.
- 1995 - Buena Vista Pictures generally releases the film Jefferson in Paris to theaters in the USA.
- 1995 - The last episode of Disney's syndicated TV show Judge for Yourself airs.
- 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. A character says "Michael Eisner's been dead for five years".
- 2003 - The National Association of Broadcasters holds a luncheon honoring the Disney franchise. Company chairman Michael Eisner announces Disney will begin testing a new video-on-demand service called Movie Beam later in the year. A television set-top box will download new film releases over regular television broadcast signal to a local storage device for later playback.
- 2003 - The Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage show debuts at Disney's California Adventure.
- 2006 - Expedition Everest opens in Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The 2.5-hectare attraction features a 1.6km train ride with a 24m drop.
- 1954 - McCulloch Motors begins selling supercharger kits for Corvettes.
- 1957 - A car race is held at Palm Springs [Production +2.7].
- Finishing 2nd overall is the Corvette driven by Jim Hall.

- 1963 - At the Marlboro Raceway in Maryland, an SCCA national championship race is held.

- Grady Davis enters #16 Corvette Grand Sport #004, driven by Richard Thompson. This is the racing debut of the Grand Sports.
- 1939 - Italy invades and annexes Albania.
- 1939 - King Zog of Albania flees into exile.
- 1940 - (early) Night reconnaissance reports major naval activity in four north German ports and transport convoys headed toward Lübeck.
- 1940 - (evening) British Naval Attaché Henry Denham sends a telegram to the British Admiralty from Copenhagen, Denmark, reporting sightings of German warships with likely destinations on Norway.
- 1940 - British bombers attack a German flotilla including battle cruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, as it heads north between Great Britain and Norway. All bombs miss the ships, and every plane is damaged.
- 1940 - (2015 hours) The British Home Fleet sails from north Scotland, to meet the approaching German fleet. Included are battleships Rodney and Valiant, and battlecruiser Repulse.
- 1940 - (2200 hours) The British 2nd Cruiser Squadron leaves Rosyth.
- 1941 - A column of German 12th Army crosses Vardar river in Greece.
- 1941 - The German 12th Army captures Skopje, Yugoslavia.
- 1941 - German submarine U-124 torpedoes and sinks Canadian merchant ship Portadoc west of Sierra Leone in the Central Atlantic Ocean.
- 1941 - (evening) 229 British aircraft attack the Germany port of Kiel, temporarily halting submarine production.
- 1945 - In Germany, American forces discover a mineshaft at Merkers loaded with gold and valuables from the Reichsbank. It is valued at US$241 million.

- 1992 - In Winnipeg, Manitoba, the fourth 25c issue in the Canada 125 Coin Program is unveiled. The design was created by Muriel Hope.
- 2008 - In Santa Fe, New Mexico, the US Mint launches the 47th coin in the 50 State Quarters Program, the 2008 circulating New Mexico quarter dollar coin.
- 1928 - 44-year old New York Rangers' General Manager Lester Patrick replaces his injured goaltender in a Stanley Cup game, and beats Montréal Maroons 2-1.
- 1940 - 7th Golf Masters Championship: Jimmy Demaret beats Lloyd Mangrum, shooting a 280.
- 1943 - NFL adopts free substitution rule.
- 1946 - 10th Golf Masters Championship: Herman Keiser wins, shooting a 282.

- 1978 - U.S. President Jimmy Carter decides to postpone production of the neutron bomb, a weapon which kills people with radiation but leaves buildings relatively intact.
- 1980 - The United States severs diplomatic relations with Iran and imposes economic sanctions.

- 1987 - National Museum of Female Physicians opens in Washington, DC.

- 1990 - John Poindexter (US National Security Advisor) is found guilty of five charges for his part in the Iran Contra scandal; the convictions are later reversed on appeal.
- 1998 - Citicorp and Travelers Group announce plans to merge, creating the largest financial-services conglomerate in the world, Citigroup.
- 2000 - Pepco's Chalk Point Generating Station on the Patuxent River in southern Maryland, USA, spills about 420,000 litres of oil. Some 6 1/2 miles of oil containment booms are positioned in the river capturing an estimated 300,000 litres.
- 2001 - Timothy Thomas, a 19-year-old African-American, is shot by a police officer in Cincinnati, Ohio, sparking riots in downtown Cincinnati from April 10 to April 12.
- 2008 - Child Protective Services of Texas remove 401 children from a ranch in west Texas belonging to jailed polygamist leader Warren Jeffs, and dozens of women leave or are removed in an investigation of sexual and child abuse.
- 2008 - The 92nd annual Pullitzer Prize Awards are announced by Columbia University. Some award recipients:
