  • 1976 - Steve Wozniak requests a release from employer Hewlett-Packard for his new Apple computer.
  • 2002 - Brazil issues a postage stamp showing a personal computer.
  • 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. Several personal computers are shown.
  • 2004 - PalmOne introduces the Zire 72 handheld computer. It features Garnet operating system, RealOne Mobile Player 3, Secure Digital / MMC slot, 1.2 megapixel camera, 320x320 16-bit color transreflective display, 312 MHz Intel PXA270 processor, 32 MB RAM, and integrated Bluetooth. Price is US$299; size is 4.6 x 2.95 x 0.67 inches; weight is 4.8 ounces.
  • 2004 - PalmOne introduces the Zire 31 handheld computer. It features Garnet operating system, Secure Digital slot, audio player, 16 MB RAM, 160x160 STN backlit color display, 200 MHz Intel ARM processor, and integrated Bluetooth. Price is US$149; size is 4.4 x 2.9 x 0.6 inches; weight is 4.1 ounces.
  • 2005 - NCSoft releases the Guild Wars game for the PC in the US.
  • 2010 - Hewlett-Packard announces it will acquire Palm for US$1 billion in cash.

Walt Disney Company history:

  • 1930 - The Silly Symphony film Night is released to theaters.
  • 1939 - The Donald Duck film The Hockey Champ is released to theaters. Huey, Dewey, and Louie also appear.
  • 1950 - The Donald Duck film Trailer Horn is released. Chip and Dale also appear.
  • 1992 - St. Vincent issues five postage stamps depicting Disney characters in Spanish military uniforms.
  • 1995 - Buena Vista Pictures releases the Hollywood Pictures live-action feature film A Pyromaniac's Love Story to theaters in the USA.
  • 1997 - The name of King Stefan's Banquet Hall in Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is changed to Cinderella's Royal Table.
  • 2000 - Palau issues a 33-cent postage stamp depicting Walt Disney, as one of the visionairies of the 20th century.
  • 2000 - In Walt Disney World, the seventh annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is held, until June 11.
  • 2002 - The Captain's Tower area in the Marketplace at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World closes.
  • 2004 - Comcast withdraws its bid to buy the Walt Disney Company, due to Disney executive reluctance to support the acquisition, and Comcast investor concerns over business focus.
  • 2005 - Disney temporarily shuts down its MovieBeam video-on-demand service in the three test cities in the US.
  • 2008 - The Abu's Bazaar shop opens in the Arabian Coast in Tokyo DisneySea.

Chevrolet Corvette history:

  • 1963 - In Danville, Virginia, the SCCA holds the Governor's Cup race for production and modified classes.
    • Finishing 3rd in C Modified class and 4th overall is the Grady Davis #11 Corvette Grand Sport driven by Ed Lowther.
    • Finishing 1st in A Production class and 6th overall is the #10 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Z06 driven by Richard Thompson.
    • Finishing 3rd in A Production class and 8th overall is the Grady Davis #9 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Duncan Black.
    • Finishing 1st in B Production class and 9th overall is the Grady Davis #12 Corvette driven by Don Yenko.
    • Finishing 5th in A Production class and 11th overall is the #49 Corvette driven by Roy Kumnick.
    • Finishing 2nd in B Production class and 13th overall is the #51 Corvette driven by Robert Mouat.
    • Finishing 6th in A Production class and 14th overall is the #6 Corvette driven by Frank Dominianni.
    • Finishing 7th in A Production class and 15th overall is the #8 Corvette Sting Ray driven by Ben Moore.
    • Finishing 3rd in B Production class and 16th overall is the #83 Corvette driven by Bob Sinn.

  • 1985 - At the Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, California, the Playboy / Yokohama 6 Hours of Riverside race is held, round one of the SCCA United States Endurance Cup series. At the start of the race, Corvettes hold the first fourteen positions.
    • Finishing 1st is the Morrison-Cook Motorsports Corvette, driven by Don Knowles and Bobby Carradine.
    • Finishing 2nd or 3rd is the Morrison-Cook Motorsports Corvette, driven by John Heinricy and Tony Swan.
    • Finishing 2nd or 3rd is the Morrison-Cook Motorsports Corvette, driven by Jim Cook and Ron Grable.
    • Finishing 10th is the Baker Automotive Corvette, driven by Kim Baker and Dave Sikes.
    • Finishing 20th is the Baker Automotive Corvette, driven by Jerry Lustig, John Dinkel, and Joe Rusz.

  • 1995 - The last ZR-1 Corvette, painted Torch Red, rolls off the assembly line. During its six-year lifetime, 6939 ZR-1 Corvettes were built. Chevrolet general manager Jim Perkins and former Corvette Chief Engineer Dave McLellan deliver the car to the National Corvette Museum.
  • 2007 - At the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, the VIR 400 race is held, round four of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
    • Finishing 7th is the Stevenson Automotive #97 Corvette driven by Tommy Riggins and Vic Rice.
    • Finishing 9th is the Stevenson Automotive #57 Corvette driven by Dominic Cicero and Marc Bunting.
    • Finishing 16th is the Team Sahlen #43 Corvette driven by Joe Nonnamaker and Wayne Nonnamaker.
    • Finishing 20th is the Team Sahlen #42 Corvette driven by Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker.

World War II history:

  • 1938 - An Anglo-French defensive alliance is formed in London.
  • 1939 - Adolf Hitler addresses the Reichstag in the Kroll Opera House in Berlin, Germany. Hitler cancels the ten-year non-aggression pact with Poland (signed in January 1934), and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement of June 1935. Hitler calls the Anglo-Polish Agreement an alliance directed exclusively against Germany. Hitler demands the return of Danzig to Germany.
  • 1940 - German planes begin five days of intense bombing of Kristiansund, Norway, almost completely destroying the city.
  • 1941 - British Prime Minister Winston Churchill directs his Chiefs of Staff not to make any further enhancements of defence of Malaya and Singapore.
  • 1943 - (evening) Over 200 British Bomber Command aircraft take off to lay mines. 593 are laid in the area of Denmark, the highest amount for a single outing of the war. 22 planes are shot down.
  • 1945 - The Grebbe Line is established in West Holland, with a temporary truce established allowing food supplies to reach civilians.
  • 1945 - Benito Mussolini is captured by Italian Partisans. Mussolini and his mistress Clara Petacci are executed and hung in a Milan piazza.
  • 1945 - Adolf Hitler dismisses Heinrich Himmler, after learning that Himmler had offered to discuss peace terms with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
  • 1945 - US forces in Germany liberate Colonel General Fritz Halder from a concentration camp.
  • 1945 - (1500 hours) In the Netherlands, Operation Duck begins, with the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division beginning an assault on the town of Leer.
  • 1949 - Iran issues five postage stamps noting Iran's contribution toward victory of the Allied Nations.
  • 1950 - Greece issues a postage stamp marking the 9th anniversary of the Battle of Crete.
  • 1951 - US-Japan peace treaty takes effect.
  • 1952 - Japan and the United States sign a formal peace treaty.
  • 2000 - Guernsey issues six postage stamps marking the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
  • 2005 - Kazakhstan issues a postage stamp marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Video game history:

  • 1982 - Universal tells Nintendo of America and Coleco Industries to destroy all copies of Donkey Kong due to infringement of King Kong film.
  • 1994 - Naxat releases the Kaza Kiri: Ninja Action video game for the PC Engine in Japan.
  • 1997 - 3DO agrees to sell its hardware systems business to Samsung Electronics, for US$20 million.
  • 2001 - Sony CEI releases the Gran Turismo 3 A-spec video game for the PlayStation 2 in Japan.
  • 2002 - The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. An arcade video game Shark Bait appears.
  • 2017 - Tarsier Studios releases the Little Nightmares video game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the USA.
  • 2017 - Nintendo releases the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe video game for the Switch in the USA.

Swedish history:

  • 1628 - King Kristian IV of Denmark signs a three year alliance with Sweden. Both powers agree to come to the defence of Stralsund if attacked.

USA coin history:

  • 1933 - US Senate approves Nellie Taloe Ross as US Mint director.

Sports history:

  • 1901 - First soccer game between Belgium (8) and Netherlands (0).
  • 1901 - Cleveland Blues' pitcher Bock Baker gives up a record 23 singles as Chicago White Sox beat Cleveland Blues 13-1.
  • 1923 - Wembley Stadium opens-Bolton Wanderers versus West Ham United (FA Cup).
  • 1930 - First night organized baseball game (Independence, Kansas).
  • 1931 - Program for woman athletes approved for 1932 Olympics track and field events.
  • 1934 - Soccer team Blue White '34 forms.
  • 1934 - Detroit Tigers' Goose Goslin grounds into four straight double plays.
  • 1952 - Patty Berg wins LPGA Richmond Golf Open.
  • 1952 - Saint Louis Browns lend two black minor league players to Hankyu Braves of Japan.
  • 1956 - Cincinnati Reds' Frank Robinson hits his first of 586 homeruns.
  • 1957 - Patty Berg wins LPGA Western Golf Open.
  • 1961 - Warren Spahn pitches second no-hitter at age 41, beats San Francisco Giants, 1-0.
  • 1963 - Marilynn Smith wins LPGA Titleholders Golf Championship.
  • 1965 - Lindsey Nelson broadcasts game at Astrodome from a hanging gondola.
  • 1966 - 20th NBA Championship: Boston Celtics beat Los Angeles Lakers, 4 games to 3.
  • 1966 - Cleveland Indians tie record with 10th straight win since Opening Day.
  • 1967 - Muhammad Ali refuses induction into army and is stripped of boxing title.
  • 1968 - Carol Mann wins LPGA Raleigh Ladies' Golf Invitational.
  • 1972 - The courts award the Kentucky Derby prize money to second place winner because the winner was given drugs before the race.
  • 1974 - Jane Blalock wins LPGA Birmingham Golf Classic.
  • 1985 - Alice Miller wins LPGA S&H Golf Classic.
  • 1985 - Billy Martin named New York Yankees' manager for fourth time.
  • 1985 - Fernando Valenzuela sets record of 41 scoreless innings to start season.
  • 1987 - NBA announces expansion to Charlotte, North Carolina and Miami, Florida in 1988 and Minneapolis, Minnesota and Orlando, Florida in 1989.
  • 1988 - Baltimore Orioles lose American League record 21 games in a row.
  • 1988 - New Jersey Devils set all time playoff mark for penalty minutes.
  • 1990 - Boston Celtics score most points in a playoff, beat New York Knicks 157-128.
  • 1990 - Firestone World Bowling Tournament of Champions won by Dave Ferraro.
  • 1992 - Milwaukee Brewers beat Toronto Blue Jays 22-2 with American League record 31 hits in 9 innings.
  • 1993 - New York Islanders beat Washington Capitals four to one in playoffs, Capitals Dale Hunter attacks Pierre Turgeon after scoring, in hockey's worst cheap shot.
  • 1996 - Meg Mallon wins LPGA Sara Lee Golf Classic.
  • 2022 - At Busch Stadium in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, Major League Baseball regular season game: Saint Louis Cardinals beats Arizona Diamondbacks by score 8-3.
  • 2022 - At Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Major League Baseball regular season game: Atlanta Braves beats Chicago Cubs by score 5-1.
  • 2022 - At Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, USA, Major League Baseball regular season game: Los Angeles Angels beats Cleveland Guardians by score 4-1.

  • 1972 - Congressman John Rarick declares in House of Representatives "The Council on Foreign Relations is the Establishment."
