- 1981 - Info World magazine runs an article with details of IBM's personal computer project.
- 2001 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film Swordfish to theaters in the USA. A Dell laptop computer appears throughout the film.
- 1951 - The Donald Duck film Test Pilot Donald is released. Chip 'n' Dale also appear.
- 1962 - McDonnell Douglas begins sponsorship of the Rocket to the Moon attraction at Disneyland. The Moonliner rocket is repainted.
- 1984 - Donald Duck and Clarence Nash host the opening of a Donald Duck film festival in New York.
- 1984 - Disney releases the film Tiger Town on theaters in Detroit.
- 1984 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film Gremlins to theaters in the USA. A short portion of the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is shown in a movie theater. One of the gremlins watching the film has Mickey Mouse ears.
- 1984 - Saul Steinberg completes funding investors for a takeover attempt of Disney. He forms the MM Acquisition Corporation (MM for Mickey Mouse).
- 1984 - The board of directors of Reliance Group Holdings vote in favor of the proposed takeover of Disney.
- 1984 - Saul Steinberg announces that on June 11, the MM Acquisition company will offer Disney US$67.50 per share for 49 percent of the company's outstanding shares, or US$71.50 per share for 100 percent of the shares if the Gibson Greetings deal is killed. Steinberg intends to acquire 37.9 percent of Disney's outstanding shares, to add to the 11.1 percent already owned by Reliance Group Holdings.
- 1987 - Canada's Maclean's news magazine includes Mickey Mouse on the cover as part of main article on "Hollywood Hits 100".
- 1998 - The live-action feature film Six Days, Seven Nights premieres in Beverly Hills, California.
- 2001 - Disney releases the Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire to theaters in Los Angeles and New York City.
- 2001 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film Swordfish to theaters in the USA. A character says "I'm just a sucker for Disneyland".
- 2001 - The Disney Channel airs the Disney Channel Original Movie Jett Jackson The Movie.
- 2022 - The United States Postal Service unveils four "Go Beyond: Buzz Lightyear" postage stamps at the premiere of the Disney/Pixar Lightyear movie in Hollywood, California.
- 1984 - In Illinois, the Bloomington Gold show is held, over three days. New features added include the Special Collection, Restoration Workshops, and the Silver Salute.
- 1984 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film Gremlins to theaters in the USA. One of the gremlins drives a toy remote control mid-1970s Corvette convertible.
- 1986 - At the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, the IMSA Lumbermens 500 Camel GT race is held. The Corvette GTP finishes 3rd.
- 2000 - Buena Vista International releases the film Gone in Sixty Seconds to theaters in New Zealand. A person mentions that Bill Bixby drove a Corvette in the TV show The Magician.
- 2001 - At the Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, a GT race of the SCCA - Speedvision World Challenge Series is held.
- Finishing 7th is the Grand Sport Racing #08 Corvette C5, driven by Bobby Archer.
- Finishing 8th is the McClure Autosports #73 Corvette C5, driven by Phil McClure.
- Finishing 10th is the Grand Sport Speedway #04 Corvette C5, driven by Bobby Sak.
- Finishing 12th is the #35 Corvette C5, driven by David Farmer.
- 2003 - At Ault Park in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Councours d'Elegance show is held. A special display, featuring rare competition Corvettes, celebrates the 50th anniversary of Corvette. Included are two Grand Sport roadsters, the first 1956 competition Corvette raced by Chevrolet, 1957 Corvette Sebring car, Corvette SS, 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans Corvette coupe, 1969 Owens-Corning L88 Corvette, John Greenwood's 1972 Stars and Stripes Le Mans contender, Corvette C5-R.
- 2006 - Walt Disney Pictures releases the film Cars to theaters in Australia. One car asks another car if it was a Corvette that she fell in love with.
- 1940 - The last British and French forces leave Norway.
- 1940 - Commander of Norwegian army General Otto Ruge orders his forces to lay down arms.
- 1940 - Adolf Hitler issues Directive No. 14, to deal with strong resistance north of Paris.
- 1940 - The French town of Rouen falls to German forces.
- 1940 - (1700+ hours) Off Narvik, Norway, German battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, heavy cruiser Hipper, and several destroyers sink British carrier Glorious and destroyers Acasta and Ardent. There are no survivors of the Acasta. Scharnhorst is hit by one torpedo.
- 1940 - (1740 hours) British carrier Glorious sinks.
- 1940 - (1808 hours) British destroyer Ardent sinks, leaving only one survivor.
- 1941 - An Anglo-French force lands in Syria, with Free French declaring Syria and Lebanon sovereign and independent.
- 1944 - (early) A German guided bomb hits US destroyer Meredith. The ship has to be abandoned.
- 1944 - The SS Panzergrenadier counterattacks at Putot-en-Bessin, France, attacking the Canadian 7th Brigade.
- 1944 - 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend shoot at 40 Canadian prisoners in a field near Caen-Fontenay road, killing 35.
- 1944 - (evening) British Bomber Command drops the first 12,000-pound "Tallboy" bomb, at the mouth of a tunnel near Saumur.
- 1974 - France issues a postage stamp marking the 30th anniversary of American landings in Normandy.
- 1989 - A group aboard the Star Hercules ship finds the final resting place of the German battleship Bismarck, 15,617 feet down in the North Atlantic ocean, 600 miles west of Brest, France.
- 1990 - Uganda issues eleven postage stamps depicting Allied World War II milestones.
- 1995 - New Caledonia issues a postage stamp marking the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.
- 1996 - Gibraltar issues four postage stamps depicting World War II warships.
- 1984 - Warner Bros. Pictures releases the film Gremlins to theaters in the USA. A small table top version of the Donkey Kong video game appears.
- 2004 - Atlus releases the Shining Force video game for the Game Boy Advance in the US.
- 2005 - Sony releases a PlayStation Portable firmware 1.52 upgrade in Japan.
- 2009 - Nintendo releases the Wii MotionPlus attachment for the Nintendo Wii controller, giving more precise motion control.
- 2010 - Konami releases the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker video game for the PlayStation 3 in the US.
- 2010 - Electronic Arts releases the Green Day: Rock Band video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii in the US.
- 2010 - Hello Games releases the Joe Danger video game for the PlayStation 3 in the USA.
- 1982 - Navy helicopters drop depth charges to chase away a submarine in the Gulf of Bothnia.
- 2000 - The Swedish government sells 30% ownership in the Telia telecommunications company. Over 1 million Swedes buy some shares.
- 1973 - Bill C-196 is introduced in the House of Commons to permit striking Olympic commemorative coins.
- 1864 - Congress sets the penalty for counterfeiting US coins at $3000 and/or five years in prison.
- 1978 - The 1974 regulation banning melting of cents is rescinded.
- 2005 - Representative Ray LaHood of Illinois introduces H.R. 2808 proposing a commemorative coin for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln in 2009.
- 1927 - Tony Lazzeri hits three home runs as New York Yankees beat Chicago White Sox 12-11.
- 1950 - Boston Red Sox beats Saint Louis Browns 29-4.
- 1966 - NFL and AFL announce plans to become NFC and AFC in 1970.
- 1968 - Don Drysdale pitches a record 58th consecutive scoreless inning.
- 1982 - Los Angeles Lakers beat Philadelphia 76ers for the NBA championship.
- 1983 - Charlos Vieira begins 191-hour "nonstop" cycling in Leiria, Portugal.
- 1985 - Pittsburgh Pirates score 10 in top of first inning, but lose 15-11 to Philadelphia Phillies.
- 1986 - Boston Celtics win NBA championship number 16 over Houston Rockets.
- 1986 - Longest nine-inning American League game (4:16), Baltimore Orioles beat New York Yankees 18-9.
- 1990 - The 1990 FIFA World Cup begins in Italy.
- 1990 - Phil Bradley hits the 18th inside-the-park home run in Baltimore Orioles' history.
- 1991 - Former New York Jets' Mark Gastineau wins first pro boxing fight in 12 seconds.
- 1991 - Monica Seles beats Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, 6-3, 6-4 for French Open.
- 1996 - Steffi Graf defeats Arantxa Sanchez Vicario in the longest ever women's final at the French Open to win her 19th Grand Slam title.
- 2002 - Serena Williams defeats her sister Venus Williams in straight sets to win the 2002 French Open.
- 2008 - Spain's Rafael Nadal wins his fourth consecutive French Open tennis championship in Paris by beating rival Roger Federer in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.

- 2007 - The Space Shuttle Atlantis is successfully launched on mission STS-117.
- 2018 - (to June 9) The 44th G7 summit is held in Canada. United States' President Donald Trump pushes for the reinstatement of the G8 (to include Russia). He also proposes the elimination of tariffs.
