- 1996 - Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation releases the film Independence Day to theaters in Canada. Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers are shown.
- 2001 - Intel releases the 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 processor. It features dual RDRAM memory banks, 400 MHz system bus, and 0.18-micron process technology. Price is US$562 in quantities of 1000.
- 1929 - Disney completes the Mickey Mouse film The Barnyard Battle.
- 1941 - Walt Disney runs a full-page ad in Variety magazine outlining the settlement terms he had planned to present on June 30. Due to the Bioff indictment, the strikers called a halt to all further negotiations.
- 1956 - The Rainbow Caverns Mine Train attraction begins operation in Frontierland at Disneyland. The attraction cost US$400,000 to build.
- 1967 - Tomorrowland at Disneyland re-opens following a complete re-design and rebuilding.
- 1967 - The Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant opens in Disneyland.
- 1967 - The Carousel of Progress attraction opens at Disneyland.
- 1967 - The PeopleMover attraction begins operation in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
- 1967 - The Rocket Jets ride opens in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. Former name was Tomorrowland Jets.
- 1981 - Disney releases the live-action feature film Condorman to theaters in the UK.
- 1984 - Disney renegotiates the Gibson Greetings deal slightly, as a two-for-one stock swap plus an additional US$30 million in cash for Gibson Greetings.
- 1986 - Disney releases the Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film The Great Mouse Detective to theaters in the US. It is based on the book Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus. The film's score was written by Henry Mancini. The film cost US$14 million to make.
- 1993 - Disney re-releases the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to theaters. The film had been painstakingly restored and flaws fixed by Eastman Kodak's Cinesite division over 18 weeks.
- 1993 - Disney releases the Hollywood Pictures live-action feature film Son-in-Law to theaters in the US.
- 1999 - Disney releases the Touchstone Pictures live-action feature film Summer of Sam to theaters in the USA.
- 2004 - The film America's Heart & Soul is released to theaters.
- 2005 - (to July 5) At the Hollywood Bowl in California, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performs "The Happiest Music on Earth", including songs from Disney theme park attractions.
- 2007 - Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House open in the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World, part of the Disney Vacation Club.
- 2010 - The film Captain EO re-opens at Epcot at Walt Disney World.
- 1981 - At the G. P. Race Track Salzburgring in Austria, the Swiss Corvette Club International holds the fifth Vette-Euro-Meet '81 over five days.
- 1986 - Twentieth Century-Fox Film releases the film Big Trouble in Little China to theaters in the USA. A Classic White 1978-79 Corvette appears.
- 1992 - At 2:22 PM, the one millionth Corvette is built. It is an Arctic White LT1 convertible, with red interior and black top. Chevrolet donates the car to the National Corvette Museum.
- 1992 - Kentucky Governor Brereton Jones announces that the state would donate US$400,000 to the National Corvette Museum.
- 1992 - Chevrolet introduces the new 1993 model cars to the press.
- 2003 - Ghana issues five postage stamps depicting several Corvettes, model years 1962, 1963, 1964, 1966, and 1968.
- 2004 - At the Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, Ohio, the Trans-Am on the Tarmac race is held, round four of the Motorock Trans-Am Series.

- 1940 - Passenger liner Arandora Star is torpedoed off the coast of Ireland, carrying 1500 German and Italian aliens from Great Britain to camps in Canada. 175 Germans and 486 Italians are killed. Royal Canadian Navy destroyer St. Laurent rescues 857 survivors.
- 1940 - Blue Funnel Line ship Aenaes in coastal convoy OA-177G off Dorset, England, is attacked by German aircraft and set on fire, killing 19 crew. The ship sinks two days later.
- 1940 - Adolf Hitler decides that a landing in England is possible, provided air superiority is attained, among other conditions. He orders the armed forces to prepare for an invasion.
- 1940 - In Montreal, Canada, a train with sealed cars delivers to the Bank of Canada 30 million Pounds Sterling of gold bars and 200 million Pounds Sterling in marketable securities. This had been transferred from the Bank of England to Halifax, Nova Scotia, via the HMS Emerald battleship, for safekeeping during the war. This is the largest single transfer of wealth in world history to date.
- 1941 - An Imperial conference is held in Japan. Leaders decide to try to settle the conflict in China, advance into southern regions, and prepare for war with England and America, if diplomacy fails. Japan will not enter the German-Russian war now, but if the conflict develops to its advantage, it will use its military strength to secure its northern borders.
- 1942 - In North Africa, Axis forces attack the defensive line before El Alamein, but halt when faced with British tanks.
- 1942 - German forces capture Sevastopol, taking 97,000 prisoners.
- 1942 - An order of the US War Department activates the First Special Service Force, an elite unit made of Canadian and American troops. American Colonel Robert T. Frederick is the commanding officer.
- 1944 - Field Marshal Günther von Kluge replaces Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt as commander of German forces in the West.
- 1944 - Field Marshal Erwin Rommel arranges the exchange of badly wounded prisoners with US forces in Europe.
- 1944 - In the English Channel, Royal Canadian Navy motor torpedo boat 460 strikes a mine and sinks.
- 1945 - The Okinawa campaign is declared over. Total US casualties are 80,000 (dead, wounded, missing, non-combat sickness). Total Japanese military casualties are 120,000. An estimated 150,000 Okinawan residents were killed.
- 1984 - Warner Communications sells off the home video game and computer systems business of Atari to Jack Tramiel for US$240 million in long-term loans. Warner has the option to purchase up to 32 percent interest in the new company for $2 per share.
- 1992 - Atari withdraws its appeal of the verdict in the antitrust case against Nintendo. Nintendo agrees not to persue legal costs from Atari.
- 1457 - Kristian of Oldenburg, King of Norway and Denmark, is elected King of Sweden, after agreeing to limitations on royal prerogative.
- 1885 - $1 million in bullion is reported missing at the New Orleans Mint.
- 1979 - The US Mint releases the new Susan B. Anthony dollar coin to circulation.
- 1979 - Quote by US Mint Director Stella Hackel on introduction of new dollar coin: "We are determined that this coin will not go the way of the Kennedy half dollar: the Kennedy half dollar has not been a success."
- 1984 - The book The U.S. Branch Mint at Dahlonega, Georgia is published, written by Clair Mallery Birdsall.
- 1998 - The US Mint announces it has awarded a contract to Grey Advertising to support State quarter dollar coin marketing.
- 1902 - John J McGraw becomes manager of New York Giants (stays for 30 years).
- 1906 - New York Yankees win by forfeit, for their first time.
- 1921 - First million dollar gate (US$1.7 million) boxing match (Jack Dempsey knocks out Carpentier).

- 2003 - At the International Olympic Committee session in Prague, Vancouver, British Columbia is declared the Host City for the XXI Olympic Winter Games in 2010.

- 1976 - US Supreme Court rules death penalty not inherently cruel or unusual.
- 1979 - The US Mint releases the new Susan B. Anthony small diameter dollar coin to circulation.
- 1982 - Larry Walters, a.k.a. Lawn Chair Larry, flies 16,000 feet above Long Beach, California in lawn chair with weather balloons attached.
- 1984 - Standard Oil of California changes its company name to Chevron.
- 1986 - US Supreme Court upholds affirmative action in two rulings.

- 2009 - California begins issuing billions of dollars in "IOUs" after failing to start the fiscal year with a balanced budget. With a US$26.3 billion deficit, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declares a fiscal emergency.
- 2015 - British Petroleum announces it had settled US federal, state, and local claims for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 for US$18.7 billion, to be paid over 18 years.
