"
For as long as I can remember, I have always liked to draw. Most of my attempts were cartoons. The thought of actually picking up a paintbrush and creating something of my own never occurred to me."
"
In the summer of 1994, I was in Sun Valley for the second season and a friend of mine, Jimmy Santee, showed me some of his paintings. I really liked them. When he gave me one that he painted for me, I thought "I can do this!" I went and bought all the supplies that I thought were necessary for creating a picture and painted until the end of the summer."
"
All of these paintings are very dark. They were inspired by music, song lyrics or titles, books, dreams or personal experiences. They represent anything that evokes an emotion of some kind. I don't aspire to be a great artist. Far from it. It's just another outlet. I need to have a lot of different things to do, so I don't get tired of the things that I really like."
