Canada - China Organic Agriculture Centre
The Centre was founded in 1999 to promote safe, sustainable agricultural methods. Since 2000, Dr. Tan has toured farms, visited agricultural research institutions, and lectured in universities in eighteen countries in Europe, in various parts of North America, and in most of the provinces of China. In 2002, his Manual of Organic Agriculture (ISBN 0-920811-73-6) was published in Beijing by the China Agricultural University.
In November 2004, Dr. Tan attended the annual convention of the National Farmers Union as a visitor, armed with 300 copies of his collected papers on organic agriculture. After responding to invited speakers on the issue of GM crops, he was allowed to distribute these papers to the delegates. He left as a member of Local 800 of the NFU
In March 2005, Dr. Tan visited several NFU members whom he had met at the convention at their farms in northern and central Alberta.
